About me

Let's start from the end: my name is Noam Appel and my mother,
Adina Appel, is the best cook I have ever met in my life.

I studied cooking at the "Ort Dan Gourmet" Culinary School and worked in several restaurants and kitchens.

Let me tell you a little about myself, and how I ended up in the kitchen. If you ask me or any of my siblings what was the most occasional scene in our house, they would probably say: "Ima ("Mother" in Hebrew) cooking in the kitchen". Ever since I knew myself, my mother's cooking was part of our family life. Whether it was from her small catering business through delicious Shabbat meals or even the short cookbook she wrote for us so we could prepare our favorite dishes.

After high school, I studied at a Yeshiva in Modi'in. While I was in yeshiva I was drafted into the IDF and on the weekends at home, I spent many hours in the kitchen with my mother. Just for fun. After yeshiva and the army, I spent a wonderful and significant year in Memphis, Tennessee, but I will probably write about that in another post in the future.

Therefore, when I had to decide what I wanted to do with my life, it was natural that I would choose the culinary world. Besides my love for food, there is no substitute for the joy of creating something and the happiness that fills my heart when others and I enjoy what my hands have created.

I hope you enjoy cooking these recipes

as much as I enjoy giving them to you.
